Remember: there is no close shopping, so BRING EVERYTHING! If you forget something, chance are

Loading Your Car

I load all my “room” stuff first. Then I load all my sewing stuff. This works because when you arrive, you
will want to take all your sewing items to our large sewing room, which is to the left of the check in area
(as you come into the building). Everything is on one level so there are no stairs or elevators to deal
with.

Stuff You Can Bring (if you want to)

Personal comfort items like your own pillow or sewing chair or sewing table are great to have if you
have room for them.

Getting There and Setting Up

The address of the lodge is: 80 Live Oak Trail McRae, GA 31037.

The phone number is: (229) 868-7474.
Set your GPS and you will not have any trouble finding us.

My cell phone number is (770) 361-0449.

You should plan on arriving any time after 11:30am. Our sewing room is large with each person having their
own table. If you want to bring your portable table for your machine, you may do so. Blue painters’ tape
has many uses, so bring a roll – to tape down your cords. We do need to keep the aisles clear for safe
access and egress. PLEASE do not bring a full-size iron. There will be 3 ironing stations available. Travel
irons are fine – they do not pull the electricity that full size irons do. The sewing room is open from the
first person to arrive until the last person leaves each night. After which the room will be locked.

On Wednesday evening, we will play right, left, center – so bring your fat quarters. You may want to bring more than 3 fat quarters if you want to play more than one game – or quarters. On Thursday night, we will have show and tell.

Design Space

You can bring portable design walls or flannel backed vinyl tablecloths. These can be taped to the walls with the blue painter tape only.

Snack Table

If you wish to share snacks, there will be a table set up in our sewing room. Please make sure your
container has a lid. Bowls and napkins will be provided.

Sewing Room and Sewing

Our sewing space are two rooms combined, plus the additional room down the hall. The chairs are the typical ballroom chairs. You can bring your own chair if you wish. Everyone will have their own table, so you’ll be able to spread out. If you have a portable sewing table, please plan on arriving early to set up your area. Tables in the room can be moved around, but keep in mind that space is somewhat limited.

Also, if there are several who want to sit together, arrive early to reserve tables. Sewing spaces are first come, first serve.
You may sew from the moment you wake up until you can no longer stay awake. Or, you don’t have to sew at all and just visit with friend and have great time. The sewing room will be available from noon on Tuesday until 1pm on Friday. The last person to leave should unplug the irons and lock the doors. Your stuff can be left in the sewing room all during the retreat. Be sure to take your purse, camera and phone back to your room when you retire for the evening. I know our sewing machines are valuable, but they are quite hard to slip into a pocket.

Night Activities

On Wednesday evening after dinner, we will meet across the hall to play right, left, center. You will need
to bring your 3 fay quarters to play with – or quarters for later games. On Thursday evening after
dinner, we will meet across the hall for show and tell. A great time to share all the beautiful projects
we’ve been working on.

Meals

Most of our meals will be served in the dining room, and we will be sharing this space with other guests.
We are kind, genteel and sophisticated ladies, try to remember this …(giggle). Regular breakfast, lunch
and dinner are extra – not include in retreat cost. Most meals will be buffet. Tuesday night, the
restaurant is usually closed, but they normally open for us. There is also another smaller restaurant
which has several menu options.
If you choose, you can eat at one of several restaurants in McRae. On Wednesday night, we will eat at
the Mexican restaurant and Thursday night will eat at the Cedar Creek Supper Club – no formal dress
require. Attendance at these dinners is not required, but you will miss out on some really great food!
You can bring snacks and drinks to your room.

Rooms

The rooms we occupy are very similar to hotel rooms. You will have daily housekeeping. To assist in their continued efforts to save resources please take note of the sheet and towel information posted in the room.

Amenities in your room include a television, blow dryer, iron and ironing board, refrigerator and phone. There are no microwaves in the rooms. They also provide the small containers of shampoo,
lotion and a small soap cake. In my experience, I always need a little extra lotion while on retreat.

Smoking

The Lodge is a smoke free facility. Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor areas.

The Last Day

You will need to pack up and check out of your room by 11am on Friday. You can sew on Friday morning,
but we need to be cleared out of the room by 1pm at the latest. Please try to pick up any trash around
your area before you leave.

I’m looking forward to another great retreat. I always get so much accomplished, but the best is the
time spent with our members. Its always so interesting to see what everyone is working on and get
some great tips!
