PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - Carolyn Wren

First, I want to thank the Guild for the gift certificate for Craftsy!  I love to order from them.

It was my privilege to work with all of you last year.   I couldn't have done it without the Board, which was full of exceptional people.
We have a new fiscal year starting and we have a very exciting year planned.

Thanks to Connie Lord for getting the programs ready for this year.  Barb Pailloz and Emmy Odegaard have the year’s schedule planned out.   We have a very busy and exciting future!

We are particularly fortunate to have Bonnie Hunter in this year’s lineup of Teachers.   She has said that 2019 will be her last year teaching small groups.

Beginning this month, we will have a new way to win door prizes.   I will pull names from the list of Members who have paid dues prior to the meeting.   We already have 50 Members paid, so get those dues in by September 2nd!
.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all and all the "Show and Tell"

PROGRAMS - Barb Pailloz

In October, Regina Carter will present a Trunk Show on Tuesday, followed by a workshop on Wednesday.  For the workshop, Regina will have a 20” quilted block for each participant to paint with paint sticks.  Check out her website, “Regina Carter Quilts.com” to see samples.  Participants should make their checks for $80 payable to Regina Carter to cover all materials.  At present, there are only 4 spots open.  Participants should wear clothing appropriate for painting (unless you are a very neat Painter!)

In November, Paula Tanner will demonstrate how to make a Christmas Tree skirt with embellishments.  Samples will be on display at the Program table and more info will be available this month.

As always, let me know if there are other programs of interested and we’ll try to get them!

MEMBERSHIP - Libba Holmes, Julie Elder

Our exciting new Guild year begins Tuesday, September 5!
Time to dig out those name tags so we can greet each other by name and help new Members learn who we are.  If you can’t locate your name tag, please let Libba or Julie know so we can make a new one for you.  The replacement cost is $5.00.  For new Members, the first name tag is provided by the guild at no cost to you.

September is “Free Guest Month.”  The usual $5.00 guest fee will be waived, so bring lots of friends, but please let them know they need to sign in and get a temporary name tag.  Of course, if they want to join, it will cost them $25.00.

Please send in those dues checks ASAP so you can be included in the new door prize drawing.  Remember there is no mail delivery on Sunday or Labor Day, and Guild begins before mail delivery on Tuesday, so you don’t want to delay getting your dues into the mail in order for it to be received by the Friday before the meeting.  Members who have prepaid will receive their new membership cards at the September meeting.  These cards will be good for one calendar year.  Many quilt and sewing shops give you a discount when you show a current membership card.

You may send your $25.00 dues check, made payable to LOQG, to:

Julie Elder
1030 Delconee Place
Greensboro, GA 30642

We can’t wait to see everyone on September 5!
